Russia demands use of Black Sea corridor for peaceful purposes only

Serguei-Lavrov-Mevlut-Cavusoglu-300x169
Moscow, Nov 1 (Prensa Latina) Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov met with his Turkish counterpart, Mevlut Çavusoglu, on the need to guarantee that Ukraine will use the Black Sea corridor for peaceful purposes only, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported on Tuesday.

Lavrov explained to Çavusoglu that only this way the resumption of ship traffic could be discussed as part of the grain deal, the message from the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

The two diplomats discussed the situation around the terrorist actions committed by Ukraine against warships and civilians in Sevastopol on October 29.

During the conversation, Lavrov stressed that Ukraine ensures that the humanitarian corridor and the Ukrainian ports designated for exporting agricultural products will not be used to fight against the Russian Federation.

As the Russian Foreign Ministry indicated, the parties agreed that the United Nations and Western countries should take additional measures to implement the part of the grain deal ‘concerning Russian fertilizers and agricultural products.’

The Russian Ministry of Defense stated on October 29 that due to a terrorist act committed by Kiev against the Sevastopol port, the Russian side was suspending its participation in the implementation of deals on the exports of agricultural products from Ukrainian ports.
