The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) drew up the list of participants in the qualifying tournaments on the basis of the current world rankings.

The Russian national teams were not included because they were suspended from all international competitions, the IOC stressed.

A total of 24 women’s and men’s international teams will play in the Olympic qualifiers, and France’s teams, which won the right to compete as hosts, are not included in those lists either, the sports organization stated.

On February 28, the IOC recommended that Russian and Belarusian athletes are not allowed to compete due to the situation in Ukraine.

On March 1, the FIVB suspended national teams and clubs from Russia and Belarus from all international tournaments.
