The director highlighted before legislators that Pemex continues to generate oil income to finance the country and, due to the tax burden, pays 5.5 times more taxes than the three main companies in the country together, Walmart, América Móvil and Femsa.
Romero Oropeza questioned the lack of ethics of the conservative legislators of the National Action Party because they made lying and ignorant statements contrary to the company.
Regarding the cost of the new Dos Bocas refinery, he reported that, unlike the government of Felipe Calderón (2006-2012), when not even the fence was finished, now there is a refinery with all the equipment that makes up the 17 plants. He assured, however, that until October, 227 billion 800 million pesos (13,890 million dollars) have been spent in the Tabasco complex.
The official stressed that Pemex continues to be a company with high profitability, and ranks third among the oil companies with the best gross operating profit, after Petrobras and Equinor.
