President Alberto Fernandez inaugurated the event at the Kirchner Cultural Center in Buenos Aires on Monday, in which representatives from 60 countries meet in-person or virtually.

The event, considered the major ECLAC meeting, is focused on economic reactivation with equality and inclusion.

The tasks carried out to date, and the challenges Argentina will assume as a president pro tempore of the organization for the 2022-2024 biennium, are under discussion during the meeting.

An exchange on investment and sectoral strategies, with the participation of the country’s Secretary for Strategic Affairs Mercedes Marcó, executives of the Caribbean Community, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and other institutions, are expected for this Tuesday.

A seminar on cooperation with Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Rodrigo Malmierca, and Director-General of Sustainable Development Policies at the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Eva del Hoyo, among others, is also on the list.

Members of subsidiary bodies of that entity, such as the Conference on Science, Technology, and Innovation, the Regional Conference on Women, the Intergovernmental Conference on Aging and Rights of the Elderly, and the Caribbean Development and Cooperation Committee, also participating in the seminar.
