As a presidential candidate of the Brazilian Democratic Movement, Tebet finished third in the first round of the October 2 elections, with 4.2 percent of the valid votes.
After this result, Tebet declared her support for the leader of the Workers’ Party (PT), stating that he does not represent risks for democracy, unlike Bolsonaro.
Sources close to Tebet, who is also a lawyer, indicated that she expects to participate this Wednesday in a popular act at People’s Square, in the South Commercial Sector, in the Federal District (DF), where she received more than 100,000 votes in the first round.
According to Brasil de Fato website, three of Tebet’s proposals have been included in the program of a future Lula government.
The Electoral Justice confirmed that, in that referendum, PT candidate Lula got 48.43 percent of the valid votes, and far-right leader Jair Bolsonaro, who seeks a reelection for the Liberal Party, received 43.20 percent.
As none of the candidates for Brazil’s presidency achieved an absolute majority of votes in this first round, that is, more than half of the valid votes (excluding blank and null votes), both politicians will compete in the runoff vote on the last Sunday of October.
