Cuba’s post-Covid-19 health and challenges to debate at Convention

CubaSalud-2022-1
Havana, Oct 18 (Prensa Latina) The current challenges of the health system in the post-Covid-19 context on Tuesday capture the interest of the second day of the Convention "Cuba-Health 2022," attended by specialists from 63 nations.

In charge of Cuban Health Minister José Ángel Portal, the Conference opens the theoretical space of the event, which includes more than 30 panels, symposiums, and roundtables, among other modalities.

Carissa Etienne, director of the Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO) and one of the event’s special guests, will participate in a panel on health policies to respond to the 2030 Health Agenda in the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals.

Etienne will then close an event dedicated to 120 years of PAHO in Cuba, in which Cuban scientist Agustín Lage will speak on Science and its role in the future of public health.

The 7th Congress on Hygiene and Epidemiology, the 4th Symposium on Maternal and Child Health in the 2030 Agenda, and the event on transmissible diseases are on the program of the mega-event, which runs until October 21.

Inaugurated by Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel on Monday, he defended in his speech the thesis that government management must be based on the science and innovation system to achieve sustainable development in the Caribbean nation.

The Convention, attended by some 50 ministers and delegations globally, is being held parallel to a trade fair in which 191 exhibitors, 130 delegates from 24 countries, 28 markets, and 55 foreign companies are participating.
