France reports over 1,000 Covid-19 patients in ICUs

Paris, Oct 17 (Prensa Latina) The French Public Health Agency on Monday reported that 1,065 Covid-19 patients have been treated in ICUs, a figure confirming the impact on France´s hospitals of fresh wave.

On August 18, the French agency had reported the first day of under 1,000 seriously ill patients, but by then experts and authorities were already warning about the fresh wave of Covid-19 in autumn.

According to the agency´s update on the epidemiological situation, it was also reported 19,493 admissions, 701 more than those reported on Friday.

Regarding the incidence of the disease, the French health agency pointed out that it stood at 576 infections per 100,000 inhabitants, indicator that barely exceeded 200 cases a month ago.

Plus, Public Health France reported 112 new deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing overall death toll to 155,980. France has been one of nations hardest hit by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.
