It also adjusted an act that extends the extraterritorial coverage of export controls to certain items produced abroad.
According to the White House, both decisions will restrict China’s ability to obtain cutting-edge technology to develop supercomputers and manufacture advanced semiconductors for military applications.
As a result of the measure, several US processor manufacturers began to suspend services to Chinese customers, while Korea’s Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix announced a one-year moratorium to comply with any orders.
