Moody’s confirmed this after assessing 12 international air terminals in Latin America.
The report takes into consideration the national provisions that restricted or eased entry conditions and the differences in the region’s economic strength.
The airports of Mexico and San Juan in Puerto Rico lead the list and the Carrasco airport ranks last behind the Ezeiza airport in Argentina and the Guarulhos international air terminal in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Argentina and Uruguay did not ease border restrictions on travelers until November 2021, which slowed the recovery of international air passenger traffic in those countries.
According to Moody’s, the Latin American airports will achieve a full recovery to 2019 air traffic levels on average by 2023, although those in Argentina, Uruguay, and Ecuador will likely reach those levels only by late 2024.
