Lula with wide possibility to win runoff vote in Brazil

Lula-2
Brasilia, Oct 5 (Prensa Latina) Former president and candidate Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva appears as the favorite to win the runoff vote in Brazil on October 30, according to a poll.

Despite criticism in the country regarding the credibility of polling companies, the renowned Eurasian Consulting Agency dared to report that the presidential candidate of the Workers’ Party has a 65 percent probability of winning the elections.

The former mechanic will face ultra-right-wing leader Jair Bolsonaro, who seeks a reelection for the Liberal Party.

According to the electoral justice, the PT leader officially got, after 100 percent of the ballot boxes counted, 48.43 percent of the valid votes in the first round election versus 43.20 percent for the former military man.

“(Lula is the favorite) not only because he surpassed Bolsonaro by five points and was close to the absolute majority but also because his lead in the runoff vote will probably grow by one to two points, given the division of the remaining candidates,” one of the contents published by the group indicates.

The projections are based on the vote’s expectation by the other candidates at 60 percent for Lula.

The firm bets that the first polls, which should be announced as of today on, should show the former union leader with about 53 percent of the votes and the former Army captain with 47 percent.
