During a parade held last night in honor of the 43rd anniversary of the founding of the National Police, the Head of State affirmed that there has never been a blockade as brutal as the one against Cuba.
The Nicaraguan president referred to Hurricane Ian which recently affected the western part of the island and caused three deaths and severe material damage especially in the province of Pinar del Río.
Ortega alluded to the heroism of Cuba, whose people, he said, have known how to resist a thousand battles and have emerged victorious.
‘We are sure that Cuba will be victorious again with the solidarity of the peoples of the world in the face of these battles,’ the leader of the Sandinista National Liberation Front said.
He assured that these are moments in which, if the US government had any humanity left, it would lift the economic siege imposed for more than six decades.
These are extreme circumstances that demand the lifting of the blockade, that is what the United Nations Organization should be demanding, where year after year the vast majority of countries propose the end of the unilateral measure’, he said.
In this sense, Ortega praised the humanity of the American people, many times “in solidarity with our struggles and with the Cuban people, but we know that there is no humanity in the American rulers.”
