President of Chile set budget priorities for next year

Santiago de Chile, Sep 30 (Prensa Latina) President Gabriel Boric will send to the Parliament the state spending budget for 2023, based fundamentally on social protection, public security and economic reactivation.

The budget takes into account the resources to ensure the right to a decent pension at the end of working life, provide quality education and health, as well as generate a climate of public safety where families live together without fear and with peace of mind.

The project contemplates investing on school infrastructure, the improvement of conditions in higher education, the use of science and technology to face difficulties.

Boric announced a growth in spending equivalent to 4.2 percent compared to what he inherited from Sebastian Piñera during the presentation of the first budget program of his administration, made on Thursday on national radio and television.

The plan is expected to have an increase in outlays and will mobilize significant resources for reactivation.

1.6 trillion pesos (about 1.7 billion dollars at the current exchange rate) will be invested in infrastructure works throughout the national territory, which will allow creating around 200,000 new jobs.

Boric also reported an increase in the amounts destined for the police force and the Investigative Police, with the aim of fighting crime, which keeps the population on edge.
