President Biden approval up to 45 percent, highest since October

Washington, Sep 19 (Prensa Latina) President Joe Biden´s approval has hit 45% in an NBC News poll, giving the president a boost just ahead of November´s crucial midterm elections.

Biden’s approval is still lower than it was for much of his first year in office, and on issues like the economy, inflation and immigration, he is still seeing poor marks.

The NBC News poll found that only 30% approve of his handling of the cost of living, 36% approve of his handling of border security and immigration, 40% approve of his handling of the economy and 42% approve of his handling of foreign policy.

Biden reached a 52% approval rating among women, which is up from 47% in August; 48% approval rating among Latinos, which is up from 40% in August; and a 48% approval rating among voters 18 to 36 years old, which is up from 36% in August.

The poll found that Biden is struggling with independent voters, with 36% approving of his performance, and suburban voters, with 43% approval. He hit a 47% approval rating among seniors.

Per every 100 people questioned, 45 support the president last week in an Associated Press-NORC poll, up 9% from July.

Analysts strongly believed August was a great month for Biden, as the Democrat president signed a legislation to boost investment in chip manufacturing and a bill to improve health care and disability benefits for veterans exposed to toxic combustion pits.

He also gave the green light to the so-called Inflation Reduction Act, which seeks to fight off climate change, raise taxes on firms and expand healthcare coverage.

Opinion polls revealed that abortion is top issue for citizens, ahead of the economy and inflation, after the Supreme Court overturned the Roe v. Wade ruling past June, by eliminating legal protections for abortion.
