Convened by various sectors, the protest aims to demand that Tel Aviv stop interfering in the academic life of Palestinian students in the occupied area of the city, as per the Wafa news agency.

Last July, the Israeli Ministry of Education revoked the license of six schools in East Jerusalem for one year, considering that they are transmitting a message against their country.

The Ministry argued that the schools used books that included “the glorification of the (Palestinian) prisoners and their armed struggle against the State of Israel. (…) The texts blamed our nation for the water crisis (in the occupied area) and denounced assassinations, displacements and military massacres,” the Israeli ministry said in a statement.

In response, the Palestinian government condemned the decision as another step in the strategy to Judaize the city.

The Foreign Ministry stressed that the provision seeks to impose the Israeli curriculum and the colonial narrative in educational centers on the citizens of Jerusalem, and warned that the action “is a new episode in the attempts to annex Jerusalem and the fight against Palestinian history.”

For its part, the Ministry of Jerusalem Affairs denounced that Tel Aviv wants to forcefully impose its curriculum after failing to convince students and parents.
