On his Twitter account, the head of Government wrote that although “the work of forwarding agencies is making progress steadily,” there is still a significant group of claims to be resolved.
He pointed out that a computerization process will be carried out to continue improving the quality of services.
In another tweet, the prime minister pointed out that there has been an increase in parcel shipments from abroad since new measures were adopted to make non-commercial imports by natural persons more flexible and the modification of tariffs.
On August 15, new legislation came into force that defined the non-commercial nature of miscellaneous goods by their value and weight and by the diversity of articles, instead of physical quantities as was the case previously.
Based on the regulations, the quantities of some articles to be imported by natural persons increased and the number of products exempt from payment rose from 1.5 kilograms (kg) to 3.0 for those items to which the weight value is applied.
