Citing an official familiar with the matter, the Associated Press news agency on Tuesday reported that the suspect, identified as Agustina Diaz, was detained on Monday night in San Miguel, a suburb of the capital Buenos Aires.
On Sept 1, Fernando Sabag, a 35 year-old Brazilian national, pointed a gun at the head of Cristina Fernandez as she was greeting people gathered outside her apartment in the Recoleta neighborhood.
Authorities said Sabag Montiel pulled the trigger of a loaded gun just inches away from Fernandez de Kirchner’s head, but it failed to fire.
On Sunday 4, police officers arrested Montiel´s girlfriend, Brenda Uliarte, after she was seeing from surveillance cameras located in the vicinity of the former head of state’s home.
After analyzing an Uliarte´s cell phone, investigators determined she had contact with Diaz before and after the attack, and the latter helped her escape after the attack.
Investigations determined both Uliarte and Diaz talked about the assassination attempt for at least a month. Pll/lam/gas
