In the context of the Fête de l’Humanité, which is being held during the weekend in the outskirts of Paris, the Spanish MEP showed her support for the initiative made by several European associations to activate a platform to promote joint actions of solidarity and collaboration with Cuba.
To Mola, such an initiative, announced by movements and associations of solidarity with Cuba, “is very important because it addresses concrete proposals ranging from media to economic development in local projects.
And as it was said in the debate, it should be helpful to move from words to action”, she assured.
Mola, at the same time, considered that the crisis in Ukraine has affected the solidarity movement with Cuba, “because it gives the impression that the US blockade against Cuba is no longer so aggressive, just as it happens in Venezuela because of the need for its energy resources”, yet she recalled that President Joe Biden announced some days ago that the blockade laws would continue.
For such a reason, she called on the European left to reinforce internationalist solidarity, because “as long as the blockade is not lifted it will not be possible for Cuba to develop, and although apparently it seems that Cuba is not being attacked so much, we cannot lose our way and must continue fighting”.
