Hungary considers that the Ukrainian conflict weakened the EU

Peter-Szijjarto
Budapest, Sep 2 (Prensa Latina) Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó affirmed that the armed conflict in Ukraine led to a weakening of the European Union, and its leaders could not prevent it.

The official made this affirmation during a summit in Belgrade, Serbia, under the name ‘The Open Balkans’.

According to Szijjártó, the conflict in Ukraine, its economic impact and the devastating energy crisis led to a catastrophic weakening of Europe and the EU in general.

“We must tell the truth while sitting at this table, and the truth is that community leaders have failed to protect the people of Europe from paying the bills for a confrontation for which they are absolutely not responsible,” Szijjártó said.

The problems with hydrocarbons in the countries of Europe worsened after the start of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine.

Several Western countries enacted a serious number of sanctions against Moscow after the Russian government recognized the independence of the people’s republics of Donetsk and Lugansk and launched the operation at their request to assist in beating back the aggression of far-right neo-Nazi paramilitary groups and the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
