Cuba’s deputy foreign minister continues visit to Vietnam

Hanoi, Aug 30 (Prensa Latina) Cuba's First Deputy Foreign Minister Gerardo Peñalver continues in Hanoi on Tuesday his visit to Vietnam, the first stage of a tour that will also take him to Cambodia and Laos.

According to the program, the deputy foreign minister held meetings on Tuesday with Le Hoai Trung, Head of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations, and Vu Hai Ha, Chairman of the National Assembly’s Foreign Affairs Committee.

He also met with Minister of Construction and Chairman of the Vietnam-Cuba Intergovernmental Commission, Nguyen Thanh Nghi.

On Wednesday, Peñalver and his accompanying delegation will travel to southern Ho Chi Minh City, where they will carry out a busy work agenda before traveling to Cambodia on September 1.

In the Vietnamese city, the Cuban deputy foreign minister will meet with authorities of the People’s Committee, the Communist Party, and Troung Thi Hien, president of the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City.

He will visit the High Technology Industrial Park and one of the companies working there, as well as the historic Cu Chi tunnels, before leaving for Cambodia.

On Monday, Peñalver and Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Ha Kim Ngoc co-chaired the 7th inter-ministerial political consultation meeting, during which the two officials exchanged views on several issues of the bilateral agenda and other international and regional aspects of common interest.
