The ministry imformed about a mild decrease in relation to the 24,394 cases and 99 deaths reported on Friday. After 158,286 tests conducted, the country´s overall positive rate showed a 13.8%.

The Higher Health Institute (ISS), on the other hand, informed that the Covid-19 reinfection rate out of the total number of reported cases was 12.9% in the last week, and it remained steady as compared to the previous week.

The ISS also stated that in one year, from August 24, 2021 to August 23, 2022, as many as 1,331 Covid-19 reinfection cases were reported, a figure equivalent to 5.8% of the total number of infections popped in the same period.

According to a recent ISS´ study, Italy´s death rate scaled down from 19.6% at the beginning of the pandemic to 0.1% in June 2022.

The Covid-19 cases reported in Italy, with nearly 60 million inhabitants, total 21,788,862 and the death toll 175,306 since the first two cases were detected on January 30, 2020, the source said.
