According to The Hill newspaper, it´s common for Trump to respond with a lawsuit after being at the center of controversy.
In a move similar to his fights with the House special committee leading the Jan. 6 investigations, Trump argued the classified documents covered by executive privilege should not be among those seized.
“It is unreasonable to allow the prosecution team to further review the documents without meaningful safeguards,” Trump’s defense attorneys said, in a document calling for a neutral review by a special master to allegedly shield the great public interest and confidentiality.
Meanwhile, The New York Times reported that in previous days Trump’s statements after the FBI´s search become a reflection of the strategy he has been using for a long time to face such a controversy: deny any illegal action while deflecting the attention elsewhere.
The legal action is the first from Trump’s attorneys since FBI agents executed a search warrant at Mar-a-Lago two weeks ago.
