Including this operation, the number of citizens repatriated to Cuba in 2022 by the Mexican authorities has increased to 1,569, according to figures provided by official sources.
The largest number of repatriated Cubans has come from the United States, whose coast guard has carried out 64 maritime operations to return 3,227 people who made the journey by sea.
One of the irregular migrants told Prensa Latina that he began his journey early this month, when he left Cuba legally for Nicaragua and transited through other Central American countries until he was detained near the border between Mexico and the United States.
