“For more than an hour, terrorists from the Ukrainian Armed Forces massively fired artillery shells. Explosions were recorded in Energodar, near the nuclear power plant, in residential areas of the city and in the industrial zone,” they said.
For its part, the local Military-Civic Administration also denounced that from the opposite bank of the Dnepr river, fire was opened again against the civilian population and the city’s infrastructure.
For now, the emergency services collect information about the victims and the damage to the facilities.
In parallel, the member of the main council of the Military-Civic Administration of the Zaporozhie province, Vladimir Rogov, wrote in his Telegram account that for two hours about 25 heavy artillery attacks were perpetrated against the plant area and surrounding areas.
In recent weeks, the atomic plant has been the target of attacks by the Kiev military on numerous occasions.
The Russian Foreign Ministry warned that the Ukrainian bombing of the plant represents “an act of nuclear terrorism” and could cause a catastrophe worse than the accident at the Chernobyl plant.
In this regard, the spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, María Zajárova, described on Monday as “criminal” the agreement of the West around the nuclear power plant.
Likewise, the spokeswoman condemned the attempts to obstruct the visit of the mission of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to the nuclear entity, to which she added that Moscow will do everything necessary to carry out the visit.
“Further concurrence by Western officials in Ukraine is simply criminal, even towards their own citizens. These people, as well as residents of Russia and Ukraine, will be at immeasurable risk if Stepan Bandera’s ultra-nationalist supporters do not stop the attacks”, sentenced Zajárova.
The diplomat said that Moscow “strongly urges Washington, Brussels and other capitals, mainly European, to stop the irresponsible games and intrigues around Zaporozhie and immediately influence the Kiev authorities to force them to stop bombing the plant and its adjacent territories”.
