In a document sent to Prensa Latina, the Indonesian ambassador to Cuba Nana Yuliana, also ASEAN Committee Chairwoman, stated her association expressed its deepest regret to victims´ relatives.
We also pray, she said, so that the Cuban government “can quickly recover from such a tragic incident.”
The diplomat also stressed ASEAN is major driving force to promote regional collaboration and to keep its central role for cooperation mechanisms in Asia.
Ángel Villa, interim Director-General of Bilateral Cooperation at the Cuban Ministry Foreign (MINREX, in Spanish), congratulated Indonesia as ASEAN rotating president as well as all member countries for the founding date.
Villa also said the Cuban government and people really thank ASEAN´s support for UN resolutions to end the unjust economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba for over 60 years.
