France reports 121 new Covid-19 deaths

Paris, Aug 1 (Prensa Latina) French Public Health Agency on Monday reported 121 deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the country´s death toll to 152,179.

France´s hospitalization rate downed to 20,063; 35 less than those reported on Sunday, 1,205 of them are admitted in ICUs.

According to the French Public Health Agency, new cases amounted to 7,249, a low figure compared to previous days.

Regarding the Covid-19incidence, the French Public Health Agency reported 500 infections per 100,000 inhabitants.

On Monday, France entered a new stage, with the end of health emergency decreed in March 2020 due to the outbreak, so the government will not be able to resort to measures such as lockdown or mandatory wearing of face mask, unless National Assembly adopts an emergency law.

As a resource to be used whether new highly contagious coronavirus sub-variants are detected, France will be able to reestablish border controls, in particular the requirement of a negative Covid-19 testing to enter the country.
