Vietnam tilts trade balance in its favor

Vietnam-balanza-comercial
Hanoi, Jul 29 (Prensa Latina) Vietnam's trade balance this year tilted in its favor up to now by achieving a surplus of 764 million dollars, the General Statistics Office reported.

To date, the value of export and import operations experienced a year-on-year increase of 14.8 percent and totaled 431.94 billion dollars, the source stated and detailed that the exchange with the European Union also showed a favorable balance of 18.7 billion dollars.

Both sales abroad and purchases in the reference period showed growths from one to the other year: in the first case, they were estimated at 216.35 billion dollars, an increase of 16.1 percent, and in the second case, they totaled 215.59 billion dollars (13.6 percent).

The main market for Vietnamese products was the United States, which purchased goods worth 67.1 billion dollars, while China was the market from which the bulk of imports came, valued at 72.6 billion dollars.

China was thus one of the counterparts in which Vietnam recorded a trade deficit, the others were South Korea and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) as a whole.
