On the occasion of the date, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres stressed that young people are the drivers of change and must participate fully in the decisions that affect their future.

As Guterres wrote on his official Twitter account, prioritizing youth skills development is essential to build a more just and thriving workforce, and leave no one behind.

Precisely this Friday, the United Nations Economic and Social Council is hosting the event entitled “Transforming Youth Skills for the Future.”

In 2014, the UN General Assembly declared July 15 as World Youth Skills Day to celebrate the strategic importance of providing this population group with skills for employment, decent work and entrepreneurship.
