The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) stated over 23.4 million Yemenis will need humanitarian assistance in 2022.
More than 19 million are food insecure, 17.8 million lack access to safe drinking water and adequate sanitation services, and 21.9 million lack access to basic healthcare.
An estimated 4.3 million citizens have fled their homes since the start of the conflict, 3.3 million of whom remain displaced.
After visiting several areas of the country last week, IFRC’s Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa, Hossam Elsharkawi, said he was “extremely heartbroken for the devastating level of hunger and severe malnutrition of babies, children and women in Yemen.”
