The PPP ethics committee’s sanction for the cover-up of the case could lead to Lee’s dismissal as party chairman, Yonhap news agency reported.
In response, Lee pleaded not guilty and said he will not resign from his post, the media outlet stated.
Lee noted that he will take all possible measures to reverse the decision and request a new review of his case.
After a nearly eight-hour meeting, the PPP ethics committee issued the verdict based on the accusations that Lee allegedly received sexual services paid for by a businessman who sought his influence, Yonhap stated.
Lee rose to the PPP chairmanship last year amid hopes that the 30-year-old Harvard-educated politician would resuscitate the then moribund conservative party, the source added.
