Bayelsa authorities are interested in developing a cooperative association in the production of vaccines and other drugs, in addition to promoting a bilateral medical exchange program, according to a document obtained by Prensa Latina.
To this end, the Nigerian delegation plans on holding meetings with executives from the BioCubaFarma group, and tour some of the companies of the pharmaceutical conglomerate.
Douye Diri’s work plan includes a hearing at the Cuban Foreign Ministry, a business meeting with executives and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Investment, and a meeting with the Governor of Havana, Reinaldo García Shoe.
The Governor of Bayelsa is accompanied by the Commissioner of Health of his state Pabara Newton Igwele, and the secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment, Oliemen Erica Abah.
The delegation is also made up of the vice-rector of the Medical University of Bayelsa, Professor Ibitimitula Nicholas Etebu, and four other government officials.
Bayelsa is in the south of Nigeria, has coasts in the Atlantic Ocean and is one of the most important states of the country, in particular for its wealth in oil and gas. It also has agricultural, forestry, textile, tourist and varied artisanal production resources.
