The request was made by the leaders of the Council of Indigenous Evangelical Peoples and Organizations of Ecuador (FEINE) and CONAIE president Leonidas Iza, in view of a new possibility of resuming the talks suspended with the Executive.
In the Basilica of the National Vow, which hosted the talks, Iza affirmed that the indigenous movement continues standing in the struggle, resistance and efforts, despite being denigrated, criminalized, stigmatized, insulted, and persecuted.
He also advocated to put wills to guarantee the peace and security of the country that is experiencing a popular uprising since June 13, thinking in the balance of an intercultural society.
Iza reiterated the call to those mobilized outside Quito to abandon the belligerent attitudes, always with dignity and rebellion, taking into account that they build better days.
Thursday’s demonstrations are planned in Quito and other cities, as well as a march from Cotopaxi to Quito, while the Episcopal Conference, the new guarantor of the talks, defines the actors, delegates, themes and methodology.
