The entity issued a statement calling on all political actors to form the cabinet, since the nation “cannot afford stagnation in the face of serious economic and social challenges.”
The ISG emphasized the need to adhere to the constitutional calendar initiated in the country on May 15th with the parliamentary elections so that the presidential election takes place at the end of the year as planned.
The group urged the executive and legislative authorities to work on the integration of the Council of Ministers in order to advance in the implementation of pending reforms to alleviate the suffering of the Lebanese people.
They insisted on the need to comply with the commitments reached with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on last April 7th, including budget laws, capital control, bank secrecy and government decisions to lay a solid foundation for a sustainable recovery of Lebanon.
The International Support Group was launched in September 2013 to mobilize support and assistance for Lebanon’s stability, sovereignty and state institutions.
The institution brings together the United Nations and the governments of China, France, Germany, Italy, the Russian Federation, the United Kingdom and the United States, along with the European Union and the Arab League.
