Musk said he was undecided on possible presidential candidacy by former President Donald Trump and leaned towards voting in the 2024 presidential election for Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
In an interview on Tuesday at the Qatar Economic Forum with Bloomberg News editor-in-chief John Micklethwait, Musk talked about his stance as he was asked if he would back up Donald Trump in upcoming presidential election.
Musk previously supported Democratic candidates including Hillary Clinton and present US President Joe Biden. “However, given unprovoked attacks by top Democrats on me and a great coolness towards Tesla and SpaceX, I will vote Republicans in November,” he tweeted.
Earlier June, Musk voted for Republican candidate Mayra Flores who on Tuesday won a massive upset victory in a special election in Texas´ 34th Congressional District.
In his statements, Musk claimed it was the first time he had voted for a Republican candidate and predicted a “massive red wave in 2022.”
