Russia: Ukraine prepares provocation at Lugansk factory

Moscow, Jun 8 (Prensa Latina) Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova charged on Wednesday that Ukrainian forces are planning to detonate tanks containing toxic chemical products at the Azot plant in Severodonetsk, in the region of Lugansk.

In a briefing on Wednesday, the official pointed out that this is a new provocation by Ukrainian nationalists, who are keeping more than 1,000 plant workers and local residents hostage in the underground facilities of the factory.

She noted that Russia is concerned about statements from Ukrainian Minister of Justice Denis Maliuska about the creation of a special camp for Russian prisoners of war, whose exchange for Ukrainian prisoners would be unlikely.

Zakharova pointed out that “opposite theses fit” in the minds of the representatives of the Ukrainian Government. She stressed that while on one hand they say that there are no Nazis in the country, on the other they talk about creating special camps for people who are not going to be exchanged for anyone.

“Where did we see this in history? We know where. The Ukrainian regime takes its ideas and inspiration from the history of the first third of the 20th century: Europe, Nazism and fascism,” she stressed.

Zakharova called on human rights organizations to pay attention to the statement from Ukrainian authorities in this regard.
