“An invading Tancol camp (armed terrorist drug traffickers from Colombia) was detected in the Semprún municipality, Zulia state, with tunnels and laboratories,” said the FANB’s operational strategic commander, Domingo Hernández Lárez.
Likewise, a total of 32 explosive devices were detected and deactivated the day before by explosives experts from the armed institution in the El Ripial sector, in the state of Apure, which were planted on roads and sidewalks by these irregular groups.
Through his account on the social network Twitter, the high military chief stressed that Venezuela will not be a logistical support or support structure for any invading Colombian terrorist group; “Venezuela is a territory of peace, the Tancol structures and camps will be destroyed,” he asserted.
According to official figures, during 2022 the Venezuelan Armed Forces dismantled more than 250 camps used by paramilitary groups for the manufacture of explosives, logistics services and drug processing.
As part of the defensive deployment in the border states with Colombia, particularly Apure, Táchira and Zulia, the military forces deactivated 1,360 improvised explosive devices and 1,397 gas cylinders planted by irregular gangs to cover their infiltration routes into Venezuelan territory.
To date, the patrol actions undertaken by the FANB have led to the capture of 52 small arms, 63 assault rifles, 24,700 cartridges of different calibers, 880 magazines, 55 improvised mortars and 19 grenades, as well as 26 boats, 14 vehicles (car bombs) and two narco-submarines.
