That decision was announced by the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba on Wednesday, in recognition to the economic and social results of that territory.
“Congratulations people from Cienfuegos, because it is your effort, dedication and these results made possible the prize to which everyone aspire: the venue for the main 26th of July celebration. #CienfuegosEn26,” the president wrote on his Twitter account.
July 26 will mark the 69th anniversary of the attacks on the Guillermon Moncada Garrison in Santiago de Cuba and the Carlos Manuel de Cespedes barracks in Bayamo (east), considered the driving force of the Revolution, commanded by Fidel Castro.
Cienfuegos will host the national event, which will be again held in person after more than two years of the Covid-19 pandemic.
This takes place when that province will celebrate the 65th anniversary of the civic-military uprising against the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista, occurred on September 5, 1957.
