Heavy rains in Vietnam threaten with floods

Hanoi, May 30 (Prensa Latina) The National Hydrometeorological Forecast Center of Vietnam announced that flash floods and landslides could affect the mountainous provinces of the north, center and western highlands of the country.

Average rainfall will range between 50 and 100 millimeters and could be accompanied by thunderstorms and hail.

According to the source, downpours, tornadoes and strong gusts of wind are likely to occur on Monday in the south of the East Sea, including the waters of the Truong Sa archipelago and other maritime areas.

At least four people were killed and four others injured last week as a result of persistent heavy rains and flooding in Hanoi and other cities and provinces in northern Vietnam.

317 homes, more than 19,000 hectares of rice and flowers, and more than 421 hectares of aquatic products suffered serious damage, causing the loss of nearly 7,000 head of cattle and the slide of more than 30,000 cubic meters of dirt on highways and roads in rural areas.
