Foreign Minister Wang Yi made this reflection in telephone conversations with his counterparts Francisco Bustillo (Uruguay), Juan Carlos Holguin (Ecuador) and Denis Moncada (Nicaragua) a few hours ago.
The diplomat called for greater communication on global issues, the joint defense of multilateralism and the promotion of solidarity among all nations of the world.
He recalled that China and the countries of that region share common interests, have always supported each other in different situations, and their development initiatives in the context of the South-South cooperation have generated profits for everyone.
Wang referred to the great importance that China grants to the influence of Uruguay, Ecuador and Nicaragua on the regional affairs, as well as their contribution to strengthening relations under the principles of equality, respect and mutual benefit without geopolitical pretensions or interference from third parties.
Wang and his counterparts also talked about bilateral issues related to trade, investment and the promotion of projects within China’s Belt and Road Initiative, destined to become a mega-platform for infrastructure and trade.
