Nicaragua not interested in the Summit of the Americas

nicaragua-always-respects-icj-rulings-president-says
Managua, May 19 (Prensa Latina) President Daniel Ortega on Thursday assured that Nicaragua is not motivated by the next Summit of the Americas whose organizer, the US, has shown its intention to exclude his country, and also Cuba and Venezuela.

During a national rally as a tribute to the 127th anniversary of the birth of General of Free Men, Augusto Cesar Sandino, Ortega alluded to respect and said that the United States Government should not be begged for participation in its Summit.

In that sense, he referred to the establishment in 2010 of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), as an alternative force arising from the progressive processes that were multiplying in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The leader of the Sandinista National Liberation Front commented that there is a starting point with the CELAC, but now strength is needed to achieve sovereignty and autonomy in the community.

The head of State understood the attitudes adopted by Latin American governments and presidents who questioned the fact that the United States is marginalizing Venezuela, Cuba and Nicaragua from its Summit.
