According to the daily report from the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP), no people died on Monday due to complications related to the disease, so the death toll remains at 8,529.
With these statistics, Cuba’s lethality rate is 0.77 percent, much lower than 1.21 percent recorded globally and 1.76 percent in the Americas, it noted.
At a press briefing on television, MINSAP added that 110 patients were discharged on Monday, so the number of recovered patients rose to 1,095,715, accounting for 99.2 percent of all cases.
A total of 1,879 patients were in hospitals or at home nationwide, 1,448 of whom are suspected cases, while 27 are under epidemiological surveillance and 404 are active cases.
Of the active cases, 397 patients are clinically stable, while seven are being treated in intensive care units: three in a critical condition and four who are seriously ill.
In order to fight the pandemic, Cuba has been implementing a broad vaccination strategy, through which 36,369,267 doses of its homegrown Soberana 02, Soberana Plus and Abdala (CIGB-66) vaccines have been administrated.
So far, 10,664,346 people have received at least one shot of any of these vaccines, including Covid-19 convalescents, to whom a single injection of Soberana Plus was administered.
A total of 9,957,347 Cubans have been fully vaccinated, which accounts for 89.9 percent of the country’s population, and 7,169,063 million people have received a fourth booster dose.
