Covid-19 cases continue to fall in Ecuador

Cuba, Covid-19, ömicron, subvariante, presencia
Quito, May 13 (Prensa Latina) Covid-19 contagions continue falling in Ecuador on Friday, where authorities recommend maintaining vaccination against the disease every five months.

The decrease in cases was confirmed by authorities from the national Emergency Operations Committee (COE) after an analysis of the epidemiological situation nationwide.

Public Health Minister Ximena Garzon stated that reports indicate 925 cases in the 18th week.

According to statistics, some of the patients who tested positive had no symptoms, while others had mild problems and 449 required medical care.

At the moment, only two percent of 221 municipalities nationwide still sanction people who do not wear facemasks.

Guayaquil, Duran and Samborondon, in Guayas province, and Cuenca, in Azuay province, are the cities where facemasks are still required.

The decrease in Covid-19 cases in Ecuador is mainly due to the success of the nationwide vaccination campaign against the disease.
