Angolan ministry expects soon refinery assembly in northern region

Luanda, May 3 (Prensa Latina) The Angolan Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas expects the next assembly of a crude oil refinery in the northern enclave of Cabinda, a national newspaper reported on Tuesday.

According to Jornal de Angola, the first equipment for the future plant were successfully tested in Houston, the United States, on Monday, at an act attended by Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas Diamantino Azevedo.

The tests took place at the facilities of US Company VFuels that specializes in the design, manufacture and assembly of modular refineries and gas plants.

According to the source, the infrastructure consists of a modular crude distillation unit, designed to process 30,000 barrels per day.

The total project of the refinery in Cabinda is valued at 1 billion dollars and foresees a distillation capacity of up to 60,000 barrels per day, when its three implementation phases are completed, with a view to delivering gasoline, diesel, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), fuel oil, Jet A1 and kerosene, the Angop agency stated.
