The artisan Luis Octavio Hernández, general coordinator of the event in this city, head of the homonymous western province, acknowledged the support of local institutions for the celebration of this event, which will extend the entire month of April.

“The cultural mission of these times is to awaken citizens, creators, the world went through a lethargy due to the situation of the pandemic, which has paralyzed us for more than two years and the Biennial seeks to shake up to show that we are alive,” he emphasized.

In line with these objectives, the Forged World exhibition was opened to the public, which exhibits and combines works made of metal and scrap metal by artist José Manuel Díaz Herrera, and audiovisuals and photos by speleologist Esteban Grau.

The exhibition was curated by designer Alexander Rodríguez Castellanos, and the exhibition calls for the preservation of both the environment and the Cuban natural heritage.

This Tuesday’s program included the inauguration of the Vigía’s books project: Unique copies, at the publishing house’s own headquarters, and the Vital Dramaturgy space at the House of Scenic Memory.

The Biennial began in Matanzas on April 4, and kept the name of the first edition in this town held in 2019, Intermittent Rivers, conceived in this municipality crossed by three rivers.

This second version advocates ecological restoration, and the participants work around historical memory, the Matanzas cultural legacy and its botanical archive, the organizers indicated.
