Sources close to the Workers’ Party (PT) indicated that Lula and other leaders of the organization are having a dinner tonight with a group of senators who support him.
Renan Calheiros, affiliated with the Brazilian Democratic Movement, Omar Aziz (Social Democratic Party (PSD), Acir Gurgacz (Partido Democrático Trabalhista) and Katia Abreu (Progressive Party) will be present.
According to Senator Randolfe Rodrigues, it is “a symbolic dinner, with a broad front to defeat (President Jair) Bolsonaro.” Lunch will be at the home of former senator Eunício Oliveira.
After Brasilia, where da Silva will receive a tribute from the indigenous peoples, Lula will go to Belo Horizonte, the capital of the state of Minas Gerais, to talk with Mayor Alexandre Kalil (PSD), who will dispute the elections with the Governor Romeu Zema.
According to advisors of the former president, da Silva will still travel to seven states until the end of May. In addition to the Federal District and Minas Gerais, he will participate in events in São Paulo, Rio Grande do Sul, Goiás, Santa Catarina, Pará and Amazonas.
The former labor leader is going on his tour after last week’s officialization of the nomination of former São Paulo governor Geraldo Alckmin (PSB) for the position of PT vice president.
