Convened by the Iberoamerican Group of Cochlear Implants and Related Sciences (GICCA), of which Cuba is a member of the board of directors, the technologies in implantable devices, the progress of surgical techniques and rehabilitation strategies were topics of discussion.

Another of the main objectives of the event that closed last night was the dissemination, interrelation and exchange of knowledge among all professionals involved in treating hearing loss.

The agenda included 15 specific issues related to this scientific achievement of particular importance for the health and welfare of children.

Cuba attended the Congress with a delegation made up of professors Antonio Paz, otosurgeon and coordinator of the Cuban Program of Cochlear Implant, audiologist Sandra Bermejo, otosurgeon Manuel Sevila and rehabilitator Idania Valdes.

The Cuban program provides national coverage, is totally free of charge and enjoys international prestige, as it was recognized at the Congress, due to the preparation of the specialists, the availability of the most advanced technology, the maintenance of rehabilitation and habilitation for life and the integration with the family and school.
