Havana, Mar 21 (Prensa Latina) President Miguel Diaz-Canel on Monday thanked the participants in the International Conference for the Normalization of Relations between the United States and Cuba, which has become a platform to denounce Washington's.

On his Twitter account, the head of State highlighted the development of the event in New York City on March 19 and 20, with the participation of solidarity groups from the United States, Canada, Colombia and South Africa, who addressed issues related to the reality in Cuba and Washington’s economic and political hostility.

“The claim, more than fair, against the #Blockade against our Homeland, unites us,” Diaz-Canel tweeted to the more than 150 participants, who also opted for the construction of relations and better understanding between the two countries.

Previously, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez noted “the solid expressions of solidarity and friendship” during the event and their call to end the economic blockade, as well as for relations based on respect.

In this regard, Deputy Foreign Minister Carlos Fernandez de Cossio pointed out that the US Government, in addition to punishing Cuba, has proposed to consolidate its role as an obstacle to ties between their respective peoples.

“These are bonds that are woven naturally, that no government, no matter how powerful, can absolutely prevent,” Cossio tweeted.

In statements to Prensa Latina, Carlos Lazo, founder of the Bridges of Love project, stated that the meeting sought to build a common front by solidarity organizations and people of good will to demand an end to the criminal policy against the Cuban people.

Hence, among the issues on the agenda were the ways to counteract anti-Cuba propaganda and spread the reality of Cuba, as well as the participation of women in society and gender equity.
