Mélenchon has 13 percent support, only surpassed by the president and favorite of the specialists, Emmanuel Macron (29.5), and far-right candidate Marine Le Pen (18.5), who would stage a repeat of the 2017 elections should the trend continue unchanged.

However, Mélenchon and his entourage are confident that they will continue to progress over the next two weeks, capturing more votes in the ranks of the left and convincing a part of the electorate that is undecided or intends to abstain with their social programme.

LFI called a march in Paris called “For the 6th Republic” for Sunday, with which it seeks to enhance Mélenchon’s chances of reaching the second round of the elections, scheduled for April 24th.

The mobilization constitutes a call to the voters of the left and those who are planning to abstain in the presidential elections, the latter estimated at 25 percent in some polls.
