In Cuba’s largest province, which has an area of more than 16,000 square kilometers, the repairs are crucial to improve traffic between the two Cuban regions, especially to the east.
The works started in late February, and according to the website of Radio Cadena Agramonte, “the repair actions are scheduled for a period of three months by Empresa de Construccion y Montaje No. 11.” Other enterprises such as Telecommunications, Electricity, Aqueduct and Sewage, are also part of the project.
According to Osdeini Suarez, who is in charge of investments , “at this moment we are working on the ground breaking part of the project and there is a majority of equipment to carry out these tasks; the rehabilitation of the road intersections that join the section with the streets of the Jayama and El Corojo districts will also be repaired.”
Cuba’s Central Road dates back to 1931, it starts at the National Capitol in Havana, and is divided into two branches, one to the eastern Cuba and the other one to the west; in its full extension from Pinar del Rio to Santiago de Cuba provinces it has a length of 1,139 kilometers.
