Heavy rains drench Dominican Republic

Dominicana, fuertes, lluvias
Santo Domingo, Mar 6 (Prensa Latina) The National Meteorological Office (Onamet), reported today that rains will continue to dowse the Dominican Republic due to a trough of low pressures located north of Puerto Rico, due to which nine provinces remain on alert.

The provinces on green alert (low) are Santiago, María Trinidad Sánchez, Espaillat, Samaná, Santo Domingo, Monseñor Nouel and Duarte, especially Bajo Yuna, while Puerto Plata and La Vega are on yellow (middle).

According to Onamet, this Sunday there will be moderate to heavy downpours at times, thunderstorms and wind gusts, being more frequent in the afternoon until the early evening hours over the northwest, north, northeast, southeast, Central Cordillera and border areas.

For tomorrow, Monday, it predicted the trough will move away from the country so there will be a decrease in the intensity and frequency of rainfall.

The day before, in the province of Puerto Plata there were heavy floods which affected houses and swept away vehicles, without any damage to people having been reported so far.
