Cuba committed to developing industrial automation

Havana, Mar 2 (Prensa Latina) After the approval of the national policy on Automatics, Cuba is currently committed to developing this science and its implementations to increase the automation of the economy, robotics and artificial intelligence.

According to Minister of Industries Eloy Alvarez, five Cuban companies are playing a key role in this effort, and we are working in 30 projects related to precision medicine, intelligent energy networks, precision agriculture and transportation safety.

Among the most relevant results, Alvarez mentioned the Cuban 3D print models, computerized numerical control machines, pulmonary respirators, which are highly demanded in intensive care units to assist Covid-19 patients, and a device to control water level, developed at the Automation Applications Center of the Electronics Group.

Regarding the latter, the minister referred to the programs mainly aimed at developing digital television, energy efficiency and tourism.

In the case of digital television, financing was arranged with the Ministry of Domestic Trade to manufacture and deliver 293,000 decoder boxes, 25,000 TV sets with their corresponding multiband antennas, coaxial cables, connectors and android decoder boxes, a program that is being continued in 2022.

Meanwhile, the production of LED light bulbs and lamps, photovoltaic panels, solar heaters, air fryers and efficient boiler rooms are planned for energy efficiency projects.
